The 2018 summer sailing season will kick into action at the Sportsboat Cup which will run over three days at the end of May, Friday the 25th thru Sunday the 27th.
With invites out to nine classes this is sure to be an exciting weekend of fun and competitive racing. The 1720 Class has chosen this regatta for their European Championships while the fast growing Irish J80 class is using this event as their inaugural National Championships. Along with the privately owned J80's HYC have their own fleet of boats that will be available to charter for the event, with the Royal St George converting the sail fleet boats back to standard set up there are plenty of options for those without their own boat to assemble a crew of their own.
With planning well underway for multiple racecourses there are several more classes to easily join in the fun. The expert race managment teams in Howth are looking to run ten races over the three days, so the bustling social ashore will be matched with energetic racing afloat each day.
Does anyone have a fleet of Melges or other sportsboats that are interested in competing? Get in touch and we will see how we can fit you in! We would love to have a mixed fleet class to bring together similar boats that don't have a big enough fleet to race one-design.
